Winter Skin Care

As winter sets in and the weather turns cold all we want to think about is getting home to a warm house and having a long hot shower we are damaging our skin without even knowing it.

Our skin needs some extra care and attention during winter because we subject it to all sorts of torture without even being aware!

Heaters strip the air of humidity leaving our skin exposed to air without moisture drying our skin, combined with the cold dry air outside our skin stands little chance.  Hot showers strip our skin of the natural oils that our skin relies on to maintain its moisture levels.

Dry skin can lead to early emergence of wrinkles and fine lines. Premature ageing appears. There a number of factors that can aggravate the condition of dry skin, excessive use of detergents, soap and toners exposure to cold winds, and central heating.

The dry skin care routine should be gentle, concentrate on improving the skin’s moisture level, pump out fine lines our aim is to make the skin soft and supple.

You will need to change or at least modify your skin car routine in winter in order to avoided premature ageing and dry skin.

Drink water We really need to hydrate our skin from within by drinking loads of water in winter.  Forget cold water like we are used to in summer hot water with a slice of lemon or even ginger is a great warming drink for the colder months. Another ideal warming option for winter is a delicious bowl of soup.  A veggie or lentil soup is full of nutrients and increases your water intake.  A great simple meal to warm your soul.

Exfoliate Microdermabrasion is a great way in winter to get rid of the dead skin cells and encourage collagen reproduction. The machine rubs off the damaged layers of skin providing a deeper, more effective exfoliation than possible at home or with traditional peels.  Microderm treatments are a great enhancement to your winter skin care routine.
