What is Liquid Liposuction?

Liquid Liposuction is a method of liposuction which uses a water solution to help break up the fat prior to its removal. Tiny incisions are made in the area the fat is to be removed, and a cannula is used to facilitate this water delivery. The water helps separate the fat from the surrounding tissue. Minimal anaesthetic is also used in the water solution, allowing for greater safety for the patient and a better view of the expected result due to minimal fluid build-up. The fat is then gently removed giving instant and permanent results.

All of this is done under twilight sedation, meaning you are conscious throughout the procedure. You can even stand up during the procedure, allowing the surgeon to see the work they have created instantaneously.

Why should I choose liquid liposuction over non-invasive fat removal techniques?

Non-invasive fat removal techniques generally only shrink the fat cells. If a good diet and exercise is not maintained, the fat cells are able to come back. Liposuction is good for areas of fat that just won’t budge! Even with diet and exercise, that small bulge or lump of fat just won’t shift. Liposuction permanently removes the fat cells, meaning they are gone for good!

Why is Liquid Liposuction better than Traditional Methods of Liposuction?

Because of the use of water to help break down and separate the fat easier, it means less trauma to the patient, therefore a quicker and easier recovery. Also as only twilight sedation is used, it allows the surgeon to see the results instantaneously, unlike traditional methods where fluid build up and the inability to see the results straight away can produce variable and unexpected outcomes.

What type of recovery should I expect?

Every body heals in its own way, some may up and running the next day, others may take a bit longer. Either way, recovery is much easier and less painful than traditional liposuction recover.

A compression garment will be required to be worn which also helps in the healing process.

If all my fat is removed, will I be left with excess or saggy skin? Can anything be done about this?

Depending on the condition of your skin, you can combine Liquid Liposuction with Laser Skin Tightening or BodyTite. In essence, both are techniques which cause the deep layers under the skin to heat up, causing collagen to tighten, helping the skin to retract. Skin tightening effects will continue to be reaped for a few months after the procedure
